Hypnosis Age Regression Case Study – Randy Shaw

By Matt, April 15, 2010 12:07 am

Case study demonstrating the power of Hypnosis Age Regression  – Randy Shaw, C.Ht.

Last week I worked with a woman who has been making *major* improvements in her confidence and being able to stay calm and centered in pressure situations.  She works for a high powered construction company and has been treated poorly on jobs because “she was a woman”…   But in reality it was because she was unable to stay focused and objective in pressure situations, and the men labeled her problem as “you’re just a woman.”

Over the last month her so-called woman problem has disappeared and she’s getting respect and results with the same set of men alluded to above. In fact, she is subliminally changing them as the result of her new gained strength, and is being treated with much more respect.

Now as much as most hypnotists do not believe that one must go into past events to make current improvements, I know differently.  For instance, with this client above, all we did was begin to release the sadness and fears of her current life and her subconscious mind opened up easily into past events, first with her former marriage where she was belittled – even though she is very intelligent – and then into teenaged events, and eventually into childhood difficulties with …….. her father.  No surprise there, eh?  However, it could have been mom, or older brother, you just never know, that is why we regress and get the straight answer.

After going through those regressed to experiences and releasing the negative feelings so she could 1, feel better, 2, start to see the truth – that there was really nothing wrong with her, 3, feel empowered instead of inferior, 4, forgive herself for thinking she was inferior, 5, forgive her father for being out of control – deeply understanding now how much pressure he was under and was doing the best he could with the life experiences he had as a young man and child himself, 6, LEARN HOW TO FACE PRESSURE AND RELEASE IT  to acquire composure…. 7. and see how all these regressed to events were affecting her in current life, 8, and have the knowledge and tools, power and desire to work through any situation where there was pressure and….. a dominant male creating the pressure, and maintain calmness and clarity.

Her reports are wonderful and full of gratitude and is now preparing to take tests for promotions in the near future, instead of not even wanting to think about that kind of pressure :-) .

Okay that took a little longer to write out than I planned, I’ll jump back and write about her recent success last week, which had to do with “falling apart while driving a trailer” and not being able to use the tools I have taught her to release the fear and gain composure.  She just needed a little help in seeing her “mistake”.

Have a great day,
Randy

………………………………………………….

Okay, this same client came in for her 4th session, after taking 3 weeks off for various reasons, and it was a very GOOD thing.  As she entered my office I could see she was very emotional, which to me is a great way to start the session because all that emotion meant her critical faculty was waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy bypassed already :-)

Her particular problem this day was feeling weak and helpless about driving a truck and trailer back from a job site, as the wind and the weather made her scared and unable to understand why she was feeling this way – ESPECIALLY since after her first two sessions she was so much more in control and able in pressure situations and —— was using the releasing (negative feelings) tools I taught her so effectively, up until this event of “losing it” driving on the freeway, two days ago.

She is completely compliant with me because of her several successes she’s had after her three sessions (not being overwhelmed in pressure situations – with men), including the success of “just feeling some peace and confidence on a daily basis.”

So here’s is what I picked up in her report in this session, and it surprised me a little.

She was trying to FIGURE OUT WHY she felt so scared, instead of working through the feeling to release it.  Once I offered the explanation she was kind of hard on herself – because she knows my mantra:  FEELINGS FIRST; thoughts second.  Release the feeling = get clarity and answers.

So we simply went to work as I had her close her eyes and recall the events that led up to her scared episode only two days before:

Feeling:  Scared
Where:  Pretty much everywhere in my body.
Do you want to hang onto that feeling or release it?
Answer:  I really want to release it.

I did very little to set that up, I only started the “set up phrase” and she took it from there through the rubbing and into the tapping.   As she finished on the side of her hand she was visibly and tangibly improved and looked very calm compared to when this “recalled” feeling came up 120 seconds ago.

I compounded the success and her release with her repeating my (hypnotically constructed) words.

Now that the scared feeling was gone she got some clarity and reported it to me.  But first, remember that she was working on scared, and scared is nervous energy in the body wanting to be released/respected/acted upon. I’d say that the scared feelings she released with me in the chair was not only about the scared feeling in the event but also the scared feeling that all her good work with me fell apart or didn’t work this time.  Thus, I suggested that she was in a trance two days ago in that bad weather (KEY) on the freeway (KEY).

Then she as she was talking about the event, she herself came up with some insight and offered more details.  She did not tell me that she drove into an accident scene, until now, the second time.  That alone brought up a sick feeling so immediately I assisted her in releasing the sick feeling, which she did very well in doing, and then-

She told me, with a cry in her voice that the ambulance was having trouble getting to the accident scene and was GOING THE WRONG WAY! (For heck sakes!)

After I helped her rub and tap and let the cry out, I gently asked:  Have you been in an accident before?  (Regression hypnotherapist thinking: where was this reaction set up???)

Yes….  Crying.  Let her cry as much as was needed until she started telling me about the “other” accident that happened… 12 years ago.  She was coming down a canyon, four lane divided highway (LIKE a freeway), she was not the driver and in a rain storm….  A car coming up the canyon lost control, came across the median and hit her car HEAD ON.  Her and her co-worker were shook up but not hurt.  (Just imagine the shock!) The driver of the other car was unconscious, the doors would not open and my client began sobbing – because she could she the 20-something girl driver had head trauma and was unconscious.

We worked through every feeling, one at a time, and released them, and each time as she did the emotional intensity of her body was tangibly less and more calm.  It mainly was the feeling that she could not help the girl in the car that overwhelmed her.  Even when the Sheriff’s arrived it got worse because they pusher her away and made her feel even more helpless and … guilty.

It only took about twenty minutes to clear every negative feeling in that event, until she could clearly and calmly look upon it, recall it in vivid detail, and begin to learn… YES!  There are some things we can change, I will use my strength when I can;  there are some things I can’t change, I will accept that and let go; and I am able to have the wisdom to know the difference.   That is the old “drunkerd’s prayer” in slighly different language, but after releasing all the awful feelings that event generated and lived inside her for 12 years, there was room inside the SM so she can learn, change, reframe, and grow stronger, with the calm now associated to the event, not scared feelings and tons of guilt.

Then we moved back into the event of two days ago and the only negative feeling that came up was the anxiousness of the ambulance not getting to the accident as quickly as she wanted it to. Once that feeling was released I now had room to suggest this:  Even if you did stop, the police would push you away and not let you help.  How does that make you feel?

It’s out of my hands, and they are the professionals – she said with complete peace in her voice and body.  Good… Things happen, but I may not always be able to help – the way I would like to.  Not my job, this time.  VERY GOOD. She offered up that last conclusion, not me.

She was amazed that the feelings of the accident 12 years ago were so profoundly alive in her body, and put in into the trance so effectively that she did not use the releasing tools I taught her.

To end, I did some direct suggestions, including remembering to work with the feeling first, and the thought second, to find bodily relief and mental clarity, instead of beating herself up by TRYING TO THINK WHY she was scared.  Now: she understands the mechanics of what happened to her and WHY.  Feelings first, thoughts second.

We ended with more DS and compounding of the positive and powerful work she did in the session.

There goes an empowered human being, one who understands how her Subconscious Mind works, and most importantly:  how to work with her SM successfully.

This is one simple yet profound example of why I chose regression work to get the roots that some hypnosis methods would not reach.

Out of breath…

Take care,
Randy

Understanding Subconscious Blocks

Understanding Subconscious Blocks And What You Can Do About Them

meditation cdWhat are subconscious blocks, and how can we remove them? Everyone has some experience with subconscious blocks; they just don’t always understand how to work through them.

A mental block is much like driving a car on a trip. Some interstate miles go by effortlessly. These represent the times in life when you are able to accomplish things, and you are limited only by the energy you put into what you do.

Other parts of your trip are city driving where traffic and stoplights limit how far you can travel. This represents the normal events in life forced upon us by other people and situations. We can do little to change these external elements.

The third part of the trip concerns the traffic jams that completely halt our progress. These roadblocks are like subconscious blocks that keep us from our intended destination. It is during these times that our energy is stuck, and we can’t accomplish our important chores.

When we run into a subconscious boundary, we must find a way to remove it so we can continue our journey. Attempts to go around these roadblocks only result in our trip taking longer and pushing our life destinations further away. The only true way to go is on the straight planned route.

To find a way to remove blockage, we must first understand why it is there. We usually know if it is for protection from a threat or danger. If a block is because of leftover childhood emotions, we should know that, too.

A trauma that affects our mental, physical, and emotional self can be the cause of our hesitation in clearing the way.

Hypnosis (particularly age regression hypnosis to cause) and meditation both have been used to clear away subconscious blocks.  Hypnosis can help pave a way for a positive attitude through the release of negative emotions so that meditation can work the way it should.

The way we feel about ourselves affects everything we are able to do and every goal we can reach. Much of the way we perceive ourselves is not in the waking mind, but deep seated in the subconscious.

Meditation and age regression hypnosis can help to reveal things in our lives holding us back because of often misguided emotions and perceptions born from our experiences.

It is through meditation and regression for clearing subconscious blocks that we learn how our attitude can directly act on the release of unwanted experiences binding us to out of alignment thoughts and feelings.

Until we can obtain release of past emotional blocks, life can be more challenging than it was meant to be.

Learn meditation and release blocks through Hypnosis Regression to help bring you back into alignment with your highest power for change.

A Secret To Manifesting Your Desires Consistently!

By Matt, February 10, 2010 9:39 pm

Relax – you’re only manifesting.

Thank the sweet lord for the recent revival of the positive thinking and law of attraction movements that have swept through our consciousness in the last few years in the form of books, audio and video programs, and workshops.

And positive thinking should be the Ideal, shouldn’t it?

Well, yes and no.

Yes, because it makes us feel good and temporarily gets us out of misery… if even for a short time. And anything that can break that cycle of misery surely has to have a positive effect, true?

You know about a year back I wrote an article for a popular news-based website where I discussed some backlash stemming from the dvd “The Secret.” At the time, even I had gotten swept up in the enthusiasm that this dvd created.

However, I intuitively sensed that the principles espoused in The Secret would lead to what is called an “upper limits problem” An upper limits problem refers to the idea that we all have an unconscious limit to how much positive energy we can handle coming into our lives. And when life gives us more positive energy than we can handle, we will unconsciously sabotage things to bring the energy back down to our comfort zone. For some folks love and intimacy are big dosages of positive energy; just when a relationship is going well, a fight might break out so as to limit the energy. Or right before a romantic vacation, one of the partners might get sick, and in this way dampen the effect of the positive energy that would have been generated on the vacation. Other forms of positive energy that people experience might include financial success or stability, or good health, or happiness. When I’ve done hypnotic regression work with my clients, what I’ve noticed is that as we reach the upper limits of good energy, another unconscious part of us goes, “uh oh, when’s the other shoe going to drop?”.

I had a fair amount of experience dealing with the upper limits of good energy problem in my practice, and was even compelled to discuss it while being interviewed for a popular internet podcast a few years back. However, it’s not until recently that I truly understood the effects of the backlash.

Well, I think the other shoe is starting to drop. So many followers of The Secret and the Law of Attraction are starting to experience a huge backlash of anxiety, doubt, frustration, desperation and even depression. They are left wondering “Why isn’t this working for me?”

Just take a quick glance at our current global economic crisis and it becomes easy to see that despite the wave of positive thinking created by these ideologies, we are in dire straits, and perhaps more unhappy than ever before, despite all of our positive thinking. So just what happened anyhow?

As much as I love these ideologies I think they have a particular flaw. Their main idea is that in order to manifest what you want, you have to be connected to something called “source” energy. Well, being a spiritual guy, that’s not too far of a stretch for me. However, then they tell us that source energy is on the side of joy. Mmmm… ok, this is where I start to fall off just a bit.

I like to think of it this way:

Let’s imagine a person (maybe even yourself) who is experiencing peace and feels in balance right at this moment. I don’t necessarily mean joyful, rather peaceful with a sense of harmony knowing that he/she is right where they need to be. This sensation is what I like to refer to as being centered. And it has a distinct body-level feel to it.

So with that being said, imagine a graph with a horizontal line, and then a vertical line dissecting the horizontal line right down the middle. In the middle is our center: our balance and peace (peace actually pervades the whole graph but another topic for another time.)

To the left of the vertical line we have a gradation of what can be termed “negative” feelings… from frustration to fear, etc… On the right we have a gradation of positive feelings from happiness to excited joy… etc.

Well, these positive thinking philosophies tell us that we are closest to source energy when we are on the right side of this graph – excited joy. Let’s reexamine this position to see if its necessarily true.

I would suggest to you that source energy is not on the right side of the graph, but actually in the middle where we have peace and balance. Have you noticed it’s easiest for us to manifest things that we are not as deeply attached to? When we are in the middle, we are more at peace with (and thus less attached to) those manifestations on the far right of the graph – peace. Thus we are not “clinging” or “wanting” to a degree that pulls us out of our center.

Now, I’m not saying you can’t manifest your desires from joy, because I know you have manifested from that energy before. However, if you think of it you’ve also manifested some desires from the other side of the spectrum. You’ve manifested from Fear which is on the left side of the graph. For some of us, fear has been the driving force to reach goals.

But the things you manifested when you were in a state of peace or a simple “okayness” required much less energy and anxiety then manifestations made from the states of joy and fear. It’s those that you attracted from a state of peace and balance that “seemed so easy.”

Moreover, some of you may have learned from certain spiritual self-help philosophies that you should imagine what you want, but then let it go and don’t think about it again.

Now, I don’t know about you but this bothered the hek out of me as I was so excited about manifesting what I wanted that I couldn’t stop thinking about it! And this made me feel bad ’cause these philosophies told me to forget about it! Not to mention how dismayed I would get if it didn’t come right away or even at all! But I stuck with it and found other ways to create excitement, only to fall back into this pattern again and again – something I found common place with people who attended a plethora of manifestation meetings on a weekly basis, as they tried in all earnest, to sustain these “good feelings.”

However, imagine, if you could experience the sensation of joy in your manifestations, I mean fully experience joy but then after experiencing it, you returned to a peaceful state where you could release your attachment to the outcome (as opposed to just forgetting about what you imagined) and even move into a sense of assured calm and centeredness when you think of your manifestation? Thus, keeping resistance to a minimum!

Let me give you an example:

I remember one of the most exhilarating events of my life was when I was younger and I hit my first 2 homeruns in little league. I actually dreamt about it the night before! But when I came to the park, after having experienced the excitement in my dream, I was very at peace with the idea of hitting 2 homeruns. I was going around telling my teammates, in a very calm and serene manner, that I would hit two homeruns, one off Joey Speakes and one off Greg Nealon… and sure enough… whammo – my first homerun ever in the first inning against Joey Speakes and in the 6th inning another homerun off of Greg Nealon.

More so, I found out the next day that the coach had given the sign to Greg and his catcher that Greg was not suppose to throw any pitches across the plate. Rather he was suppose to walk me!

In retrospect, if I would have came into that game clinging on to the excitement and telling everyone “I’M GOING TO HIT 2 HOMERUNS TODAY.. I DREAMT IT,” then quite possibly it may have taken me out of the center and I would have tensed up from all the excitement and not accomplish what I had dreamed of the night before.

This is what happens to a lot of us, we cling on to the excitement which shoots down our rocket of desire.

Now, keep this in mind as you continue to read – it’s the center we want to be in when thinking about our manifestations.

You see sensations to the left or right of peace are meant to be experienced and then let go of. They are simply guidelines as to where one may want to focus a life of peace. They aren’t meant to be held on to. And that’s one of the greatest problems we have faced, hitherto, in creating our manifestations.

Please remember that I’m not saying you shouldn’t experience either side of the spectrum. In fact, I’m saying the opposite – FULLY EXPERIENCE THEM! But don’t cling on to either side!

As I am fond of saying “Wanting may create rockets of desire, but clinging will fire off SCUD missles to knock them down!”

Consider what happens when you’re on the left side of the spectrum: Fear. What happens to your body? Adrenalin rushes through, blood pressure rises, pulse rises… etc.

Now think about what happens on the right side of the spectrum: excited joy. What happens to your body? Adrenalin rushes through, blood pressure rises, pulse rises… etc.

Notice what either the sense of joy or the sense of fear does to your body. It pulls you out of homeostatsis. It pulls you out of center. Imagine trying to sustain either side of the spectrum indefinitely. Physically, it will wear out your body and mentally/emotionally it will “pendulum” your feelings back and forth from fear at one end of the spectrum, to excited joy at the other end, barely giving you any time to just sit and experience balance, peace and most of all CLARITY.

You see, this universe runs on the idea of balance. Once something is tilted one way it then has to tilt the other way in order to recalibrate; and if doesn’t find a way to slow down toward the middle, disasters have a greater potential for occuring.

We tend to think that it’s the left side of the spectrum that holds us back, but please understand it’s the right side of the spectrum that has equally, and at times even more so, held us back from fully experiencing a life of peace, balance, and harmony while attaining goals that make us truly happy and content. It’s the right side of the spectrum where a lot of today’s philosophies say you must “vibrate” with constantly to achieve what you wish. But listen to your body! You can not sustain either side without having some kind of extreme recalibration back and forth, or some sort of repercussion.

This is why we are having the backlash of anxiety, doubt, frustration, desperation and even depression.

As I mentioned in the video, come back and check with this blog for my upcoming meditation cd that will help you stay in the center where peace and acceptance are.

Healing Is Constant

By Matt, February 2, 2010 12:18 am

Hi all,

I just had a post meditative thought that came to me, I’d like to share.

Let’s remember that healing is constant.  I know other hypnosis teachers have taught that if you do this or that, everything will magically be good to go!  And, not just hypnosis teachers but other “gurus” in different fields of self help.

But honestly, how many of you know anyone that magically healed everything in their life and is no longer dealing with any issues?

That’s why Randy and I are up front when we say HEALING IS CONSTANT, so you’d better have some tools.

I’ve met too many “gurus” out there telling you how wonderful their lives are as if they had not a care in the world because they did this “one” technique and life is nothing but roses now.   And then behind closed doors, I came to learn that they’re not so care-free and peaceful.

Randy and I have broken a lot of the common (and many times sacred) rules in the hypnosis field about regression, direct suggestions and such.

Trust me, if DS or anything else for that matter truly worked for an all out cure of all my woes, I would be using it.

Maybe one day all our woes will be gone but until then we need a way to deal with the issues that come up as we go.  We don’t need someone saying “do this and your problems will all be gone.”   That just makes us feel like crap when all our problems aren’t gone.  It reinforces old unwanted perceptions and feelings.

As much as I love regression and releasing hypnosis, if direct suggestion hypnosis (DS) were a magical cure I would become the biggest proponent of DS in the world.

Also, if one day this were to be the case, I know that the road I took to get there was regressing and releasing, or any other tools that felt like I was putting my hand over a candle flame.

I would understand that I had to put the “quarter in the video game” before I could experience the fun of the game (for some people their “quarter” may be different).  And that this has made me a better healer, as I could see what someone would need when coming to me for my services.  whether that be regression hypnosis, direct suggestion hypnosis, EFT, Eastern philosophy, meditation, spiritual lessons, etc…

With that said, I think the “gurus” have some valuable teachings but don’t take their teachings as the be all, cure all.

Even more so, don’t’ fall into the trap of thinking that only ONE way is THE way.   BS!  Isn’t that what most religions have placed on us?

Rather, take their teachings as a tool to help you move more calmly through life with its ups and downs.

If you do  finally reach a climax with an issue that eventually breaks into pieces… From here you’ll get more moments of peace, but also know that you’ll then have to take care of the broken pieces and start all over again with each one!

How many pieces will you have to keep working on?

Love will bring everything unlike itself to the surface for healing. So, every time you reach a new level of love, more crap comes up

So how many pieces need to be healed before we could experience consistent peaceful bliss?  It depends on how much crap you put in that stall from this lifetime and previous lifetimes.  But remember, YOU put that crap in there through your perceptions, feelings and beliefs and ultimately your behaviors.  Not anyone else.  They may have influenced you, but you held on to it.

So take Jung’s advice and be willing to look inside:  “he who looks outside dreams, he who looks inside awakens.”  The answers are inside of you.  Not some special technique that claims to be the be all, cure all.  Reach inside and insight, clarity and peace will come.

Some have healed quite a bit and don’t need to dig as much and, therefore, are more apt to using “easier” methods like DS hypnosis, meditation, estherham, or “the secret” philsophies,  Etc… for their life.

Yet some still have a lot of healing to go, thus need the deeper regress and release type hypnosis.

Don’t compare yourself to others.

Be honest with yourself, which one do you need?

Let me say again.  HEALING IS CONSTANT.  Be aware of your momentum as you heal.

If you fall into the trap of  “oh, that old issue is showing it’s head again… I thought I cleared that, I must not be healed and I’m starting all over again.” Then guess what, you are starting all over again as you’ve just discarded the momentum (as subtle as it may be at times) that you’ve created.

It’s like having a clean horse stall after cleaning out a ton of crap and then all of a sudden a cat walks in and releases some excrement.  Then instead of focusing using your tools to keep it clean, you focus on the cat crap.  However, because you are so focused and frustrated on the cat crap , more cats walk in behind you that notice the excrement and think this is a big litter box and, so they follow suit.  And before you notice it, guess what?  You have to start all over again!

When the easiest thing to have done was use your tools to clean out the poop, spray it with a nice natural cleaner and put a litter box outside to let others deal with their own crap as you keep your stall clean.

Why is the self help industry so big?!

Because it’s filled with books and information on how to do the “one and only technique” that will magically take care of all your problems.  The same people, over and over again, buy into these schemes searching from one book to the next, one workshop to the next for that magical cure.  Let me let you in on something… That one cure doesn’t exist.

Even certain people in history that seemed to have found the peace they were looking for had to hop around from one thing to the other before everything finally came together.  And it wasn’t just one thing that did it.  It was the momentum of the searching that brought them to peace.  Please re-reread that again.  It was the momentum of the searching, not one technique, that brought them to a point of consistent peace.

As I’ve said a million times over ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME.  There is no one road that is better then the other.  Rather one road is better then the other, RIGHT NOW.

So understand that the road that worked today, may not work tomorrow, but it may work the following month.

Alright, I’m going back into meditation ;) .

BTW, if you’ve read this far email me at matt@mattsison.com,  if you’re interested in a meditation cd I created for myself that is helping me bring my breaths down to eventually 1 breath a minute ;) for about 20-30 minutes.  Right now, I’m down to about 3.5 breaths per minute.  I figure I’ll get to 1 breath sometime this year :-p.

Welcome To The Regression Hypnotherapy Blog

By Matt, February 1, 2010 8:03 pm

Hi everybody

I hope your new year is starting off well.

I’m primarily going to be doing video blogs as I’m just too lazy to write at times ;) .

Along with my own rants and raves about regression hypnosis (and at times simply about life.  That’s the beauty of having your own blog site, isn’t it?)  I’ll be bringing on guests hypnotists.

So enjoy!
Matt
